Hi guys, So, I have a question I have not really found a straightforward answer to yet. If your footage was shot in Raw, R3D or CineDNG for example, how do you go about compositing? Working in a Log Gamma Curve means that it's harder to match your elements. And what about keying? It would be hard to key out green when everything is pretty much a dull grey. The best I have thought about is applying a light LUT to the footage, compositing, and match the footage, then export the composited elements as a separate ProRes4444 file, with alpha enabled. Then bringing all the elements in together in Resolve. And apply a final grade across all the footage that sort of makes sure everything sits together. I would love to hear what you guys think.. It's a workflow I am going to need for my next project, and so I'm trying to do some tests now and see whats most efficient. Thanks!

Also keen to hear this - Working on a new Sci Fi short - for an online competition and at the last minute we changed our mind from RAW to ProRes HQ on the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera - So I'm keen to hear some people's workflows and thoughts My two concerns were exposing correctly for RAW and secondly Card space as I only had 2 x 64gig cards. Am ordering more That beings said ProRes HQ came out awesome too - Here's a quick screenshot from the grade and rough draft with a before and after http://instagram.com/p/tR_bS8ny2_ or Before And After

Hey Wicus!
Would be awesome if you can do a video / screen recording of the basic workflow that you use and post the video here?
Cheerz, Ruan

Thank you for giving out this information for the world to share! @ruan, clearly this forum is going to be pretty darn useful!

Hi Guys, I've had a few requests asking how EDL's and CDL's are used in a vfx pipeline when sharing RAW footage with the Editor. Here is a quick video explaining how it all fits together. -
